A Resolution to Oppose the Gotion Battery Plant in Greene Township, Michigan
WHEREAS; a company under the name of "Gotion," with known ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was allowed to purchase 270 acres of property in Greene Township, Mecosta County MI with intentions to construct and operate a Lithium Battery Factory, and
WHEREAS; the CCP is a known and sworn enemy of the United States of America who also has expressed and shown intent to defeat the U.S. using "unrestricted warfare" which includes methods of economic and environmental warfare, and
WHEREAS; Gotion's Bylaws pledge allegiance to the CCP, and
WHEREAS; Gotion and their CCP affiliates are a threat to our national security by way of being located within 100 miles of Camp Grayling, a U.S. National Guard training camp, and
WHEREAS; Governor Whitmer has violated Article 10, Section 3 of the United States Constitution by entering into an agreement with a foreign power, and
WHEREAS; being constructed within the vicinity of the Muskegon River, lithium battery plants pose known potential environmental risks that could result in the contamination of the waterways of the Muskegon River, Muskegon Lake & Lake Michigan caused by any leakage or catastrophe and would have a devastating ecological impact, and impact the health and well-being of Michiganders living in the region, and
WHEREAS; The Biden Administration at the Federal level, and the Whitmer administration at the State level have green-lighted the Gotion plant, and have unduly relaxed any scrutiny of environmental impacts, and
WHEREAS; an economic transition from gas-powered vehicles to battery-powered electric vehicles puts the rights of the people at risk if tyrannical elements of society gain access to remotely control an EV's off-switch, which impairs a citizen's ability and right to travel, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED; The Muskegon County Republican Executive Committee opposes any business activity of the Gotion company in the the state of Michigan, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; MCREC applauds Representative Moolenaar for standing up to protect Michiganders from the threats posed by the Gotion plant, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; MCREC condemns the Greene Township Board and Green Township Supervisor, Jim Chapman for approving, supporting and facilitating the Gotion plant, placing economic greed over more important considerations of health, safety, liberty and security, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: MCREC condemns the vote by the Michigan Senate Appropriations committee to approve tax incentives for Gotion, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: MCREC condemns the Michigan Strategic Fund board for approving the Gotion Renaissance Zone tax exemption as well as $175 million in state grants to build the factory, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; MCREC condemns the actions of the Biden and Whitmer administrations in facilitating the Gotion project, betraying the good people of Michigan & the United States of America by conspiring with known enemies and placing our national security at risk, and
LET IT ALSO BE KNOWN, that copies of this resolution will be transmitted electronically to each of the Republican GOP Chairs in each of the 83 counties in Michigan and to all elected officials that represent Muskegon County.
